What is being claimed about Odoo 20 that Odoo has not confirmed?

This article is deliberately different from the rest of the series. Most of what follows is unverified. We publish it because these claims are circulating widely and it is more useful to examine them than to pretend they do not exist.

Odoo 20 is released at Odoo Experience Americas in San Francisco on 2 and 3 September 2026, where Odoo says the new version “will be released during the event”. The European launch follows at Odoo Experience in Brussels on 24 to 26 September 2026, where Fabien Pinckaers unveils it in the opening keynote.

Read this one differently. Parts one to six contain only claims traceable to a source. This part contains the opposite: things widely reported that we could not verify.

None of what follows appears in Odoo’s release notes. Where something has since been partly confirmed, we say so, because one item on this list has moved since we first wrote it.

Where do the Odoo 20 feature lists circulating online come from?

Almost entirely from partner and agency blogs published between late 2025 and mid 2026, largely citing each other rather than a primary source.

Search for Odoo 20 features and you will find detailed, confident articles from a number of implementation partners. They are professionally written. They are also, as far as we can establish, largely unsourced.

We checked their claims against Odoo’s release notes, which stop at 19.4, and against the full Experience 2026 agenda. Where a claim could not be traced to either, or to the April Partner Day briefing, we mark it unverified below.

This is not an accusation of bad faith. Writing early about a release is a legitimate way to reach an audience. But there is a difference between analysis and reporting, and a reader making a budget decision deserves to know which one they are holding.

Is Odoo 20 getting a redesigned interface?

Partly confirmed, and this has changed since we first published. Fabien Pinckaers has posted design previews on his own LinkedIn.

A general redesign was one of the more widely repeated unsourced claims, and we originally listed it as unverified. That is no longer accurate.

In August 2026 Fabien Pinckaers began posting previews on his LinkedIn, including a side by side comparison of Odoo 19 and Odoo 20 interfaces. Reported details from that preview include Material Design icons replacing Font Awesome, headers on grey with inputs on white, rounded borders and pastel colours for tags and status.

He has been explicit that this is work in progress and the final version may change, which is a caveat worth carrying forward rather than dropping.

What remains unconfirmed is the mobile redesign specifically. A visual refresh of the web interface is not the same as a rebuilt mobile application, and the previews we can source concern the former. If mobile is critical to your operation, that distinction matters.

Is Odoo 20 getting a dedicated hotel module?

Unverified. Several partner articles describe a hospitality product with occupancy and revenue management. We found no reference in Odoo’s published material.

What the agenda contains is hotel customer sessions: managing a hotel with Odoo, a luxury resort on the Albanian Riviera, and a comparison against Oracle Opera. Those are implementation stories, not product announcements.

The distinction matters. A partner running a resort on Odoo today demonstrates it is possible with configuration and add-ons. It does not indicate a native hospitality module in version 20.

Our assessment: hospitality is plainly a market Odoo is interested in. A dedicated module is possible but unconfirmed. We would not build a budget around it.

Is there a construction module coming?

Unverified, and the evidence is weaker than for hospitality.

We searched the agenda for construction sessions and found none. For a module supposedly launching in this release, complete absence from a programme of over four hundred talks is difficult to explain.

Construction is genuinely underserved in Odoo. Contractors need work breakdown structures, retention handling, progress billing against certified work and subcontractor management, and standard Odoo covers those only partially.

Our assessment: the least likely of the widely reported claims. If you need construction functionality now it comes from configuration and add-ons. We have written about running construction projects on Odoo as it actually stands today.

What about new verticals like car repair, care homes and pet care?

Unverified as named verticals, but the industries theme itself is confirmed by a keynote title.

This is where the rumour has partial support. One of the two confirmed keynotes is titled Opening Keynote – Odoo 20 and Industries, presented by Fabien Pinckaers. Industries are demonstrably a version 20 theme.

What is not confirmed is which industries. The specific verticals named in partner articles do not appear in Odoo’s published material that we could find.

The agenda does show heavy activity in energy, aerospace, pharmaceutical, legal, accounting practice, rental, education, non-profit and hospitality. If you want to predict which verticals get attention, that list is better evidence than a rumour.

How should you use unconfirmed information?

For awareness, not for planning. Do not commit budget, timelines or client promises to a feature that has not been announced.

The risk is concrete. A business that defers a needed implementation expecting a hospitality module in September, and does not get one, has lost months for nothing and still has the original problem.

A more defensible position is to plan against what exists today and treat version 20 as upside. If the rumoured features arrive you adopt them. If they do not, your plan still works.

We will update this article after both launch events, marking each claim as confirmed or not. That record is worth more than a prediction, and it is the reason we are willing to publish a speculation piece at all.
