Odoo 20 · Marketing and digital · Part 5 of 8
What is confirmed about Website and Marketing in Odoo 20?
Three confirmed sessions cover the digital front end, and one of them makes the boldest AI claim anywhere on the agenda. Whether it survives contact with reality is the thing to watch.
Odoo 20 is released at Odoo Experience Americas in San Francisco on 2 and 3 September 2026, where Odoo says the new version “will be released during the event”. The European launch follows at Odoo Experience in Brussels on 24 to 26 September 2026, where Fabien Pinckaers unveils it in the opening keynote.
The agenda confirms sessions for Website, Marketing, and Calendar, Activities and Appointments. It also carries a session titled Smart eCommerce: How agentic AI powers your website and its marketing, which is the most direct claim on the entire programme that agent driven automation is reaching a customer facing module.
This is part five of an eight part series on Odoo 20 by business function.
We label every claim by how well sourced it is. Confirmed means Odoo has published it, on its release notes, its event pages or its conference agenda. Partner Day means Odoo briefed its partner network on it in April 2026 and it has been reported, but Odoo has not published it directly. Unverified means it is circulating without a traceable source. Nothing here is presented as fact unless we can point you at where it came from.
What is confirmed for Website and eCommerce?
Confirmed. “What is new in Website?” plus sessions on agentic AI for eCommerce and on automatic website migration to Odoo using AI.
The migration session is quietly the most practical item here. Moving an existing site into Odoo Website has always been the main obstacle to consolidating a marketing site and a shop onto one platform. Businesses end up running WordPress alongside Odoo indefinitely, paying for both and reconciling product data between them.
If that migration becomes substantially automated, the calculation changes for a lot of mid-market businesses. It is worth watching with realistic expectations, though: automated migration tools historically handle structure well and design poorly.
On the eCommerce side, read the agentic AI claim carefully when detail lands. There is a large practical difference between AI that drafts product descriptions and AI that autonomously adjusts merchandising, pricing or campaign spend. The session title does not distinguish, and the distinction is the entire story.
If you run a separate marketing site and an Odoo shop today, the automatic migration session is the one to watch. Consolidation saves licence cost, integration effort and the perennial problem of product data being correct in one place and stale in the other.
What is changing in Marketing?
Confirmed as a session. Partner Day additionally reports marketing automation workflow triggers.
Odoo’s marketing modules have historically been adequate rather than exceptional, and most serious marketing teams run something alongside. The question for version 20 is whether the gap narrows enough to justify consolidating, which is a cost question as much as a capability one.
For mid-market businesses in India and the Gulf the practical considerations are consistent: WhatsApp as a primary channel rather than an afterthought, deliverability on both transactional and campaign email, and whether campaign attribution actually ties back to the CRM pipeline or merely claims to.
The reported workflow triggers matter more than they sound. Marketing automation is only useful if it can react to what happens elsewhere in the business, and triggers are the mechanism for that.
What is confirmed for Appointments and scheduling?
Confirmed. Calendar, Activities and Appointments are covered in one session, suggesting work across the scheduling layer rather than a single module.
Appointments matter more than their profile suggests. For any business where a customer books a slot, whether a service visit, a consultation or a demonstration, that booking flow is often the first real interaction anyone has with the company.
Grouping the three into one session indicates Odoo is treating scheduling as a connected surface. That is consistent with the Field Service and Planning merge covered in part four, and may be part of the same underlying work.
How should a marketing team prepare?
Audit what genuinely lives in Odoo versus in external tools, and be honest about which integrations are actually working rather than merely configured.
The common pattern is a stack assembled over years. Odoo holds the CRM, a separate platform sends campaigns, the website sits elsewhere, and a spreadsheet reconciles the three once a month when someone has time.
Every major version is an opportunity to reduce that surface, and most businesses do not take it because nobody owns the question. The useful exercise before September is to list every marketing tool you pay for, what it does that Odoo cannot, and whether that gap has already closed in a version you have not upgraded to.
Do that honestly and you will usually find at least one subscription you are paying for out of habit.
Work out what a rollout or upgrade costs for your team, size the infrastructure it runs on, and see which add-ons cover the gaps in standard Odoo.
Part six covers the platform layer: AI, Studio, MCP connectors, dashboards and Discuss, where the largest single concentration of sessions sits.
